Evaluate a Listing & Perform Due Diligence
A practical checklist for reviewing claims, evidence, included assets and transfer expectations before a purchase.
A marketplace listing is a starting point for evaluation, not a substitute for your own due diligence. Review the information carefully and verify the items that matter before committing funds.
Review the commercial picture
- Understand what the asset does and how it earns.
- Compare asking price with revenue, profit, workload and growth expectations.
- Look for unusual changes in traffic, revenue, customers or audience quality.
- Ask which expenses and ongoing obligations continue after the handover.
Confirm what is included
Ask for an explicit transfer list. Depending on the asset, this may include a domain, hosting, source files, website content, social accounts, design files, customer or subscriber data, documentation, licences, store assets or analytics access.
Ask for supporting evidence
Request evidence that is appropriate for the claim: analytics screenshots, revenue dashboards, platform statistics, registrar information or ownership proof. Evidence should support a claim without exposing passwords or secret transfer credentials.
Plan the handover before payment
- Agree on the exact assets to be transferred.
- Agree on the transfer order and any platform-specific restrictions.
- Document what support the seller will provide after transfer.
- Confirm how access and ownership will be checked.
- Keep a written record of the agreed commercial terms.
Traffic, revenue, profit, audience size and platform status can change. Verify the current state that matters to your decision.
